Welcome ladies (and Sesshomaru) to the third judging panel. This round, we wanted to see inside your personal life and get a shot of you with your family.
Let's see how you did.
Ariel
Jensen: WOW. I am in love with this photo. I love the whole feeling and how artistic it is. I love the colouring and the stars. I really love the connection between the two of you and of course, both your profiles are amazing to me. You're both so flawless looking. The artist who drew this is amazing!!!!
Rei: This is definitely a beautiful scene with an obvious connection between the two of you. I wish that either your eyes were open or his were closed. Since Prince Eric's eyes are open when your's aren't, he steals a bit of attention from you. However, that's my sole complaint about this photo. It's a wonderful scene, there's a great level of detail put into making this, and the proportions all look in order.
The Doctor: The other judges said everything that needs said. I can't think of anything to add. lol Awesome job! I'd kiss you.
Aveline
Jensen: This is gorgeous!! I love the styling in this photo. You both seem to be connecting without actually connecting. That's nice. My only issues would be the angle of the photo which isn't too bad, and then your upper lip. Seems to have disappeared. Otherwise, good photo.
Rei: I love the fashion in this shot. The fact that your character is from another time period had me excited to see what you would bring to the table this game because most other models will not be able to bring what you do to the table. There are a couple problems with this shot, though. As Jensen pointed out, your upper lip doesn't feel quite finished, the way your cleavage is drawn looks a bit off, and the shading on your face (particularly around your nose) has it looking like you're getting over the flu. However, unlike Jensen, the angle doesn't bother me. You both share the focus here well, too, but a little more connection would have been nice. Still a solid effort, though.
The Doctor:The more I look at this, the more I like it. The connection is subtle, but not too subtle. I personally like the angle, but I do feel there are some overlooked areas. First, we don't see either of your hands and because of this...your arms lose their form. They can trick the eye into thinking they're longer or more deformed than they actually are. Then there's the lip which another judge pointed out. It's not the scar. I personally love the scar. It seems you lost the upper lip altogether. It's not pleasing to the eye. Lastly, the guy has a strong presence. This is dangerous in a shot like this. I think you did good and I'm so glad you gave us more this week. Keep up the progress.
Elsa
Jensen: I really love this picture. And despite the different hair colours, I totally see sisters. (I have a red headed best friend who is the only red head in her family next to her dad lol) I really love the loving connection here. It's a really good picture!
Rei: I like the thought behind your first reason for the positions, but feel that the second reason is probably the truth. This art style seems to be a recurring theme for you, so it seems like you have a strong sense of your own identity and tastes and that's nice to see. While it's not the most detail-oriented art style, I still really like it because it's executed well and we get the important details we need from it. I don't love the way the bust of your dress was drawn, but otherwise, I do like the outfit. Your sister's adorable, but you are definitely the star of the shot. Despite you not personally interacting with her, I do still feel the connection because it does feel like you're trying to outshine her here. Solid work, yet again.
The Doctor: First thing I want to say is how much I love the fact you look like you're saying "I love my family, but get out of my shot, sis!" You fully take charge of this photo. I love everything about this. You've done no wrong here. Brava!
Emma
Jensen: I think this is nice. While there are so many girls in this photo, you really take center stage. You're in the middle, you're posed like the queen and you're dressed all in white/blue. Your pose is great. I'm not loving your face but then, no one else's face is fantastic either lmfao Good job.
Rei: The more people you add to a shot, the more the focus gets dispersed. However, you still stand out as the star of this shot. I know we can expect to see bitch-face in most of your shots due to your character. I don't need to see it next round, but at some point in the game, it might be nice to see a shot showing off a more vulnerable Emma. That's something I just wanted to get out there for something to think about showing at some point this game. Back to this shot, though, fashions good, pose is good, and theme is met well. Another strong showing.
The Doctor: The key thing to remember when submitting a group photo...you MUST bring the eye to YOU. Steal the spotlight! I'll have to disagree with my fellow judges and say...you do not do this for me. The Phoenix does. Even ignoring her, my eyes focus to Storm. Simply being different in color and in the center of the photo does not dictate eye attraction for most people. Movement, intense colors (red being the best), anything that would flash or sparkle and then oddities. These are all things which attract the human eye quickly. Keep this in mind for the future. I think the photo is a busy too crowded and not creative, but as for YOU alone, great body form and good posing. Both of which you're a natural at and which I doubt you'll have many problems with in this competition.
Harley
Jensen: I am so glad you chose this one. It was one of my favourites. I love the connection between you and your man. The way you're leaning into him and the look on your face. You trust him and love him. And while he looks evil lol He looks like he loves you too. Really really like this!
Rei: Already a step back in the right direction this round. The connection between you two is obvious and the dynamics of this relationship are great. Your outfit may be your standard one, but the shadows and sheen really help enhance it and make it feel fresh. Welcome back, Harley.
The Doctor: YES! So glad you came back from last week! The Joker looks fantastic in this. His facial stitching is just a genius addition. He's so intense and you can feel the evil radiating even in this. However, all of that...pales in comparison to everything you put out there. I only mentioned him to show you that all of THAT...you outshine. Fantastic posing, you bring a great contrasting softness to Joker and best of all...YOU make the connection in this photo, which is essentially what their relationship is all about. You chose perfectly.
Korra
Jensen: Someone asked me on AIM if animals could be in the picture and I said yes, as long as there was another human. This was on AIM so I can't fault you for not knowing. But when I look at this picture, I think of myself and my dogs who are family to me. I love the connection here. It's beautiful and you look awesome. I really love this photo overall.
Rei: This is a really lovely shot of you; probably my favorite one that you've submitted so far. The connection between you and your companion is definitely evident. I do have to take into consideration whether or not having a non-humanoid companion in this shoot is acceptable, but like Jensen, I've also had pets that feel just as much a part of your family as anyone else. But I do love the shading effect on your clothing and the overall detail of the shot.
The Doctor: You look high. lol Other than that, I really like this. It's so warm and shows that family doesn't always mean children or parents. Family isn't always blood. It's love. I do think you look a little too relaxed though. Hence the stoned face. lol This would have been perfection if you were posed more professional looking while not appearing to be. Like lying on Naga with your back arched around her neck and your face resting on her head. Get what I mean? Overall, nice shot. Love it.
Leela
Jensen: When I first saw this photo in your ideas section, I was hoping you'd crop the bottom off if you chose this. It's not my favourite but you're owning this photo and looking fantabulous. Just really busy with the words and the spaceship. Not bad though.
Rei: Like Jensen, I would have liked to have seen the logo cropped out of the bottom. It's strange seeing these renditions of these characters and i can see why Fry was so scared of everyone at the beginning of the series. Leela, you have a great pose and I love how you were drawn this time. I'm not a big fan of the staging of the shot, though. It's great for showing off the interpretations of the characters, but not as much in terms of connectivity.
The Doctor: You're the ONLY one in the photo that looks good. LOL I guess that's one way to steal the show. Be the only one the eye wishes to see. xD Your pose is fierce, but not model fierce. More "I'll kick your ass" fierce. lol Overall you did good. It's not great TBH, but it's good. Based on what I've seen from you...I think you'll do fine. You just need a bit more time getting to know your character's pros & cons. Keep up the work!
Morrigan
Jensen: I really like this. And your feet aren't gross lol The chubby baby is really cute. Love how he's playing with bath toys in the sea lol I love that you're looking at him so lovingly and you are so sexy to boot. And the single mom book? PRICELESS!!! Really like this one!!
Rei: The more I look at this shot, the more I like it, cause I wasn't fully sold at first. However, I do like the mother/child relationship in this photo and Jensen pointed out some nice details. The Single Mothers book is a nice little touch. I like that your outfit is different than what we normally see you in, but it is definitely inspired by your normal attire. I do think the child steals a bit of your attention since your eyes direct our eyes to go in his direction while he's also in the foreground. However, it's hard not to turn out attention to you in that outfit and with that posing.
The Doctor: You have an ugly child. Luckily his mother is gorgeous in this. I think you did a fantastic job. You look amazing, your pose is the perfect style of relaxed, which I was trying to convey to Korra. The importance of looking relaxed while still pulling off a pose. Your legs are KILLER and the overall look says family relax time. I love it. Great job.
*Note: Morrigan took exception to The Doctor calling her child ugly, but we all have eyes.
Rapunzel
Jensen: I really like this photo. I love how sparkly your hair is. I love that your mother has a lot of hair as well. You're a beautiful child. You look a bit like an Olsen twin here. I think the painter might have an obsession lol Very gorgeous though.
Rei: I do like your connection here and you're definitely the center of attention. This shot is so lifelike that I understand why you were worried if part of it might actually be real. I'm not completely a fan of your face in this shot cause while it may have been drawn well, it also feels slightly creepy at the same time. It's like some collectable dolls that look so lifelike that sometimes, some people find them to be a little creepy. There are definitely worse problems you could have than hyperrealism, though, so you'll be fine.
The Doctor: You look just like Natasha Lyonne: www.aceshowbiz.com/images/wennpic/natasha-lyonne-premiere-the-iron-lady-01.jpg
I have quite a few issues with this personally. The most important being that I don't feel any connection between you and your "mother". Despite her being the villain of your story, she DID raise you and you DID love her as your mother. So there should be a connection. The second issue I have is the face. lol While it's not BAD, it seems to be a habit of yours to choose odd faced photos. xD I'd watch this in the future. Odd can be very good at times, even game winning...but it can also be game killing. So just watch and know the difference for future rounds. The next issue I have is the fact we don't actually see much of you. We see your face, your gorgeous hair and only part of your torso. We see more of your mother than we do you. That's never a good thing. The last issue I have and then I'll stop picking on you. While our eyes go straight to you and that's good...it's only your hair that really catches our eyes. Your Hair should just be PART of what makes you great, not the sole factor. Overall, not bad...but not great either.
Sesshomaru
Jensen: Everyone altogether now............awwwwwwwwwwwwwwww A man with a child is such a beautiful thing. I love the connection here and the whole loving vibe of this image. You two really love each other. So love this.
Rei: I loved the addition of the character of Ren to the series as it really gave Sesshomaru another dimension and I love that you chose to show this relationship this round. As someone with an adopted relative, I do appreciate seeing the relationship between non-biological family members shown with such impact here. Also, I absolutely love the style used here and there's so much emotion here. Probably my favorite shot anyone's submitted so far this game.
The Doctor: Everything I told Toph applies to you as well. xD It's creepy how that is. You guys went with such similar shots though. The two things that set you apart are both pros for you. First being that I feel a stronger connection between you and Rin. Second being the scene offers more overall. Great job. Keep up the good work.
Toph
Jensen: This happens often. I can't see an image, I copy/paste, everything, it's not there, then the person posts it again, and suddenly, the original is back lol ANYWAY, thank you. I really really love this. I saw it last night and was just loving it!! I love the parent/child photos so much. It's really nice here. Your child look content to sleep on you and you look so damn content holding that child. You look lovely as well. Great job!
Rei: The connection between you two is apparent and beautiful. It's nice to see the soft side of Toph from time to time since my impression of her has always been that she's really tough. The shot's a bit plain, though. There is enough detail that it's not a problem, but not enough detail for the shot to be a show-stopper without a better setting, posing, or other x-factor. However, it's a nice, very sweet shot and you don't have anything to worry about as far as I'm concerned.
The Doctor: You lose some of your form in this shot, but it's ok because it works WITH the theme. You're holding your child in a warm embrace. Naturally, you're going to lose form when doing so. Especially in that dress. xD I think you made a great choice. Not one of the best tonight, but definitely a great choice. Awesome work.
Twilight
Jensen: This is cute and kind of unexpected. I love the connection here. My only complaint is that you're too young. I mean, it's ok, but we want to see model from you as well as theme connection. I love the way you're looking up at your father though. Beautiful image.
Rei: I have to agree with everything Jensen has said about this photo. It's a cute shot; a nice relationship on display here. However, you do have to keep in mind that this is a modeling competition, so shots of you as a young child most often will not go over as well as other shots. It's a sweet shot, but probably not right for a competition.
The Doctor: Love the connection; one of the better ones. Just makes you want to smile. Unfortunately, that's all there is here for me. Oh and you did the book thing again...
Let's see how you did.
