Photo Shoot 7: High School Daze
The girl who wants more than anything to be like everyone else...
Although this may be a bit darker than what you were looking for, this completely captures what high school can be for a large majority of people. Unattainable examples of the human body are placed in front of us everyday, and people do the unimaginable to try to measure up to those standards. As the world is full of those with negative self-perceptions, the prevalence of eating disorders in this country are higher than ever. This picture of Ariel represents what so many of those poor souls strive for: to be like those people in the magazines. They'll do anything to fit in... even at the cost of their own health.
It all starts with loving yourself.

I apologize in advance if this offends anyone. I didn't wanna have to go here, but I also didn't wanna just be basic and go with what everyone else was submitting. Rather than an external representation of the high school experience (goth, popular, nerd, etc.) I went with an internalized concept that people from any of these cliques can experience.

Jensen: WOW. I am in shock here. I've known girls who looked like this. I'm shocked beyond belief right now. This is really a perfect example of problems that many high school girls suffer from. I love that you're still modeling as well. Your hair is fantastic and your face and expression just speak volumes!! Very good job Ariel!
Rei: This shot was about making a statement and was done in a respectful manner, so I wouldn't fear about any possible offense. I don't fully love the coloring job around your ribs. At first I thought they looked to much like open wounds, but I think they're meant to be gills, which is strange since Ariel's character design doesn't include gills. That aside, this is another fantastic shot. You show off the negative aspects of a disorder commonly associated with high school girls, so I like how you met the theme this round. Your hair still looks glamorous, but I think I would have preferred if that looked as unhealthy as the rest of you. There's something haunting about this shot, too. Overall, great work, once again.
